How we care for patients with respiratory symptoms

COVID-19 positive

If you test positive for COVID-19

  • Book a Telehealth appointment first. Rebates are available for patients who have attended the practice in-person in preceding 12 months. 
  • An in-person exam can be arranged post- telehealth by your GP if required
  • Ask your GP if you are eligible for anti-virals

COVID-19 negative (RAT or PCR within 24 hours of appointment)

If you test negative for COVID-19 

  • In-person appointment can be offered in “isolation”
  • Please do not enter the clinic. Phone reception to let them know you have arrived
  • Take a seat at the designated “isolation” waiting area

Isolation appointments

  • Outdoor/separate waiting area provided 
  • Consultation either outdoors or in separate isolation room. Keep your phone on you as your GP may call you first. 
  • Payment taken via SMS after your consultation
  • Documents can be emailed directly to you

 

Standard clinic-wide infection control processes in place:

Improve clinic air quality
  • Air purifiers in all consultation rooms and indoor waiting areas
  • Doors kept open multiple times daily to provide fresh air exchange
  • CO2 monitor in waiting room to gauge when fresh air exchange is required aiming for reading of under 700 CO2 ppm
Masking
  • All staff in N95 masks
  • Masks offered at entry to the practice
  • All patients over 12 years of age required to wear a mask for duration of visit
  • All patients over 5 years of age encouraged to mask if comfortable
Social distancing
  • Ability to check-in for appointments outside
  • Outdoor waiting room available
  • Indoor waiting room monitored for maximum capacity
Hand hygiene
  • Alcohol based hand sanitiser available in all patient waiting areas, consultation rooms and restrooms
  • Full handwashing facilities available in GP consultation rooms and clinic restrooms
Surface cleaning
  • Regular surface cleaning of high touchpoints with approved healthcare disinfectant
  • Professional cleaners scheduled daily after hours
Telehealth appointments
  • Available to all patients
  • Rebates available for patients who have been reviewed at GSH in-person in the preceding 12 months
